"Bent, Not Broken" Brown Acorn Frame
The most petite frame in our “Bent, not Broken” series, this lovely handmade and painted acorn frame is cast from a vintage original. The “Bent, not Broken” engraving is a powerful reminder of resilience.
3” x 2 1/2”
Scrimshaw is an engraving art form: the original “Bent, Not Broken” was engraved on a fossil material, and then a mold was made from the original, picking up the hundreds of tiny cuts that make up the image. Each piece is then hand cast, and then finished by hand by rubbing ink into the cuts to bring out the image. Each piece is cleaned and polished, and then set into a hand made frame that goes through much of the same process. Hand made in Galena, Ohio, by artists Kim & Katherine McClelland of Tree of Life Artworks.
